ST JAMES MEDICAL PRACTICE

In January 2016 it became known that St James Medical Practice, situated in the centre of the ward and serving many ward residents, was once again planning to move to the north of the ward.

Last year the practice had wanted to build a specialist surgery in Kilhams Way, which is just off John Kennedy Road, where it said numerous medical facilities could be provided and where there would be far more parking than at its present location in the town centre.

Concerned principally that Kilhams Way is not served by public transport and where it would be very difficult for existing patients to attend, the ward forum took up the case on behalf of its members with the practice and the health authority. The following letters were sent and received.

In the autumn the forum learned that the plan had been abandoned and hoped that this would be the end of the matter. Unfortunately a move is once more being planned and so the ward forum has taken up the matter once more.
