RIVERFRONT DELIVERY PLAN

August 2018
Of the three options for the riverfront upon which residents were consulted, the majority plumped for the third. Within this option there are several matters with which the ward forum committee is unhappy and the borough is being advised of this.  See letters in the archive.

Nelson’s Quay

As part of its strategy to market the development area to an international audience, the borough council’s Regeneration and Economic Development Dept named it Nelson’s Quay.   This roused much opposition within the town because King’s Lynn has minimal links with the admiral.   The ward forum wrote in opposition (see letter) suggesting Vancouver Quay, to mark Captain George Vancouver, the town’s great explorer and navigator who charted the west coast of America and Canada or Cresswell Quay, the local man who was the first to make the north west passage across North America.
